Carmen was appointed CCO of Qatar in November 2013.
Carmen is a Citi Private bank Executive leading the Gulf and Egypt team since April 2012 and Heads the Family Office that serves Citi”s largest Middle East shareholder since April 2009.
For more than two decades Carmen has been highly effective and primarily focused on the Middle East Mega Wealth & Royal Segment, capitalizing on her investment background, working partnerships with Securities & banking, team management & the delivery of tailored solutions.
Carmen joined Citi Private Bank, Middle East North Africa (MENA) region in January 2000 as Senior Investment Counselor in London engaging clients in asset allocation & open architecture dialogue, delivering the SSB Investment platform and promoting Alternative Investments. In February 2003, Carmen became MENA Investment Counseling Head in London.
In January of 2005, Carmen became a Senior Private Banker and Team Head for MENA based bankers in London. In 2007, she was appointed Team Head for Egypt & Levant and in April 2009, in addition to her client and management responsibilities, Carmen became The Family Office Head for Citi’s Largest Middle East shareholder, primarily focused on Corporate Finance, Direct investments, capital markets, equity structured solutions & Lead coordinator within Citi and across various Financial Institutions.
Prior to Citigroup, Carmen was a Financial Consultant with Lehman brothers in London until April 1997 & subsequently, joined Merrill Lynch until January 2000 focusing on US Equity trading, Alternative Investments, Asset management & brokerage services. Carmen’s career started at JP Morgan Chase in the Asset Management Division as part of Portfolio Strategy Group, which managed globally diversified, equity specific, hedged mandates for Institutional Investors in Europe.
Carmen holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Richmond University. Professional training includes; Harvard Executive Senior Leadership Program, Capital Markets & Credit Training, multiple UK & US Securities Representative Examinations. She is also an eight-time winner & Hall of Fame member of CPB Chairman’s Council. In June 2013 Carmen was appointed Co- Chair of Citi Women Network for the UAE.
Carmen is Iraqi / German, has one son and is currently based with her husband in Dubai.
